Drop your Baggage this Summer

There’s a growing trend of stores banning single-use plastic shopping bags, and celebrities like Sarah Michelle Gellar are getting prepared. The former Buffy the Vampire Slayer was recently spotted carrying several green reusable bags into Trader Joes. However, reusable bags aren’t just for the grocery store. Beach bag, overnight bag, gym bag, random stuff in the car bag, random bag of stuff in the living room you can’t be bothered to put away… life presents multiple opportunities to cart around, or hide, one’s stuff.

Rather than using an assemblage of old plastic and paper bags, take a cue from the celebrities (and fashion designers who are all about this trend) and consider introducing several cute, stylish reusable bags into your daily routine. Made out of canvas, cotton, and other eco-friendly materials, these totes come in all sizes, colors and designs so you can be sure to find the best reusable tote for your lifestyle and budget.

Tip: Roll up your eco-tote and slip it into your purse for a no-brainer way to say no unnecessary baggage.

These dual-colored baskets are handwoven from raffia and are assembled by artisans in rural Alasora, Madagascar. The sale of these bags produces a source of income for rice-field workers during the heavy flood seasons and gives them access to additional training and skills. As a fair trade item, you can know with confidence that the family who makes these colorful, vibrant bags are paid living wages and work under comfortable conditions. $24.95
